Marian Rakusan was raised in family of glider pilots, so it was natural he earned his glider pilot license at age of 15 in Aeroklub Kromeriz, Czech Republic. He became power pilot when he was 18 years old.
He moved to Canada with his immediate family members in 2006. He renewed his glider and power licenses couple of years later and started flying again.
Marian runs his own business, importing Czech and Slovak machine tools to Canada.
His home club is SOSA, where he enjoys his time while soaring Ontario skies and flying tow planes the other days. Marian has crewed for Team Canada at several contests including the most recent World Gliding Championships in Benalla Australia in 2017, this will be his first time serving as Team Captain.
